School Day
School Hours
Doors open at 8:45am with the school beginning at 8:55am. The end of the school day is 3:30pm. This equates to 33 hours and 55 minutes of school per week.
Start of the day
Infants: Gates open at 8:45am. There is a 10-minute window in which parents can drop off and member of staff will be on the gate to greet them during this period. Children must be in for registration. Registration is at 8:55am and children are marked late if they arrive up to 20 mins after this time. From 9:15am arrivals will be recorded as unauthorised absence for the morning session.
Juniors: There will be a member of staff on the Junior playground from 8:40am – please don’t leave your child before this as they will not be supervised. All teachers will be on the playground to greet their class at 8:45am; when a bell is rung to signal to the children it’s time to line up to come into school. Registration is at 8:55am and marked as the Infants above.
The first session of the day begins upon arrival and so children will come into Bell Work in all year groups (Reception to Y6) to start the day. This will vary depending on age and stage but will provide an opportunity for consolidation of previous learning or deliberate practice of a new skill for example. It’s also a good chance for children to reconnect with their friends ready for the day ahead.
Morning break
Children have a morning break at 10:20am. We encourage children to eat healthy snacks at morning break. This might be a piece of fruit, a snack of vegetables, or a savoury item such as cheese, breadsticks or crackers. Children in the infant school will be provided with a piece of fruit.
Lunchtime
Lunchtime begins at 12:00pm for all classes and finishes at 1:00pm.
Lunch boxes should be clearly marked with the owner’s name. Due to the increasing number of children with severe allergies, nuts must not be brought into school.
Children entitled to a free school meal will be provided with a hot meal each day. If you feel that your child may be entitled to free school meals you can apply online - details of who can apply can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals. It really helps the school’s funding if you register for free school meals even if you do not intend to take up the meal each day.
Afternoon break
Children have an afternoon break
End of the Day
Children can be collected from the school playgrounds at 3:30pm.
School Absence
If your child is unwell please let the office know as soon as possible and on each day of sickness so we can code this correctly in the attendance register.
